I’m a former PHP enthusiast turned RoR noob. I have done a bunch of stuff with PHP, MySQL, AJAX, and Flash. I use Windows, OSX, SuSe 10.1 computers every day. I work at a very small design company as the web master here in Portland.
After watching a couple screen casts and jumping into some sample code, I realized that PHP development sucks compared to RoR. I spend many hours studying RoR independently and I am currently working on a rather large Rail app for work right now.
